How To Wear The Radiant Orchid Colour

How To Wear The Radiant Orchid Colour

Pantone has suggested this as the palette to pair the Radiant Orchid colour with:

Radiant Orchid - Pantone Colour of the Year 2014

As you can see, Radiant Orchid can be prettily paired with Violet, Purple, Pink and Red. It also goes well with more blue-ish tones like Amethyst and Indigo. If you are hesitant to go that colourful, you can always tone down with Grey or Black.

While Radiant Orchid itself is a cool colour, it actually looks quite nice if combined with a light and slightly warm color (like Cream) and gold jewelry!

Admittedly, it was not love at first sight for me. However, the more I look at the colour the prettier I find it. Sometimes you just have to give things a bit more time to realize its full potential, I guess.

Here are your 3 Ways To Wear Radiant Orchid. I picked a pair of suede platform sandals from Jimmy Choo that came the closest to my interpration of the Radiant Orchid colour. Let me know what you think in the comments!

How To Wear Leather Jackets

How To Wear Leather Jackets by 3 Ways To Wear

How To Wear Leather Jackets

In terms of wardrobe staple factor, leather jackets score even higher than leather pants, which became super hot (only) in the past few years. Leather jackets, however, haven been around since decades. In fact, I don’t know think they ever went out of trend, since Marlon Brando sported his Schott Perfecto leather jacket in his famous movie The Wild Ones.

The sartorial world adores leather jackets, because they are versatile, timeless and suitable for any age. Also, they themselves get better over time. What’s not to love!

The Essential Styling Rules

1) Back to Basics: The easiest way to style a leather jacket is to throw it over a basic outfit (for example, a plain white t-shirt and jeans) to give it an instant cool look.

If you wear on oversized shirt, make sure that it doesn’t create too much bulk under the jacket. Also, if you wear something more flared on the bottom, make sure to choose a more fitted leather jacket on top.

2) Create contrasts: The roughness of the leather is just perfect to create interesting, yet stylish contrasts to delicate fabrics like lace or tulle, or to feminine patterns like flowers or hearts.

“Opposites attract” is true for this styling more than anything. Wearing my leather jacket over summer dresses is one of my signature looks. I just love it.

3) All Black: A black outfit from head-to-toe, topped off with a leather jacket is the epitome of an edgy and sexy look. Dial up the masculinity by adding low heeled, man inspired boots, or play with feminine by pairing with a black dress. Or do both.

With such a dark and strong look, make sure you got the make up right. Apply the right amount to avoid appearing washed-off and pale. Personally, I prefer a red lip. But smokey eyes would work as well. Highlight your best features!

4) From Day to Night: Leather jackets are also perfect to transform an office look into an ready-for-the-night oufit. Toss your blazer, put on heels, glam up with accessories, grab your clutch – and off you go!

These are the essential rules for “How To Wear Leather Jackets” and if you need more styling inspiration: Here are 3 Ways To Wear Leather Jackets which showcase rules #1-3.

How To Wear Royal Style

How To Wear Royal Style

By Royal Style, I don’t necessarily mean Kate Middleton style (even though she will be perfectly able to pull it off), but royalty inspired clothing that is characterized by one or more of the following features:

1) It is made out of regal fabrics like velvet or brocade.

2) It comes in jewel-toned shades like emerald green, rich purple, wine burgundy or sapphire blue.

3) It has some embroidery or beaded elements.

Add some serious royalty embellishments (like sparkling statement necklaces, strands of pearls, chandelier earrings, cocktail rings) to your royal outfit and you are to go for for a show stopping entrance! Wooohooo!

OK, don’t celebrate too soon, actually it is not that simple. The art of wearing Royal Style lies in making the outfit look modern, not austere or by all means costume-y. So in case you have fallen in love with a full length dress with high collars and long sleeves… sleep one more night over it and buy it only if you are happy with the cost per wear result.

In order to avoid the costume-y look, it is a very good idea to combine Royal Style with modern day classics, such as a simple black blazer or a black leather jacket. This will tone the glamour down automatically, but thanks to its regal fabrics/colours the outfit will still look chic. So, if you are looking for something suited for a festive office party – look no further!

Below are your 3 Ways To Wear Royal Style. I hope you feel inspired to get a little opulence in your life for the upcoming festive season!

How To Wear Pastel Pink Coats – A Tribute To Jackie Kennedy

How To Wear Pastel Pink Coats

When wearing pastel pink, all you want is to be recognized as a modern, stylish woman. Not a wanna-be princess or ballerina.

Therefore, keep the silhouette sleek and tailored and avoid anything too poufy or girly-looking. The new oversized pastel pink coats that are in store right now are just perfect.

Also, use pastel pink as the focus colour of the outfit and combine it with neutral colours like black, white, grey or with other pastel colours. Don’t try to colour-block with bright colours. It will ruin the classy effect.

And lastly, keep in mind that pastel pink is a light and cool colour. If you have warm and dark colourings in your hair, skin and eyes, then I’m sorry to inform you that pastel pink is not a good colour for you and you should stay away from it completely. (But don’t be sad, there are other iconic items that are just made for you, like the iconic MaxMara camel coat.)

With my little tribute to Jackie O, I hope to show that fashion runs indeed in cycles and essentially, nothing is ever truly new. But why reinvent the wheel when we can enjoy a classy look over years?

Here are your 3 Ways To Wear A Pastel Pink Coat… for future reference (hm, maybe I am a trend guru in the end?).
