Let’s imagine you have found the perfect maxi skirt for you. Here are a few things to consider in terms of “How To Style It”: Bold visuals automatically draw attention to themselves and maxi dresses are long (i.e.provide a lot of print space), so per definition you will get A LOT of visual attention when you decide to wear your brand new maxi dress with bold prints.

With this in mind, the choice for the rest of the outfit becomes clear: Do not combine with another bold pattern (unless you have a masters degree in pattern-mixing or are a you are uber-fashionista who wants to be noticed) and keep colours in harmony with the colours of the maxi skirt print.

Also, as maxi skirts tend to be flowy and voluminous, wear something more tailored on your upper body if you don’t want to look too saggy overall.

How To Style Tribal Shorts

In terms of styling, the girl in Zurich is doing exactly the right thing. Because unless you plan to attend a hippie music festival, a well-done mix of funky and simple is the way to go for everyday life.

You can dress it up with elegant, sleek tops and accessories to contrast the wild look of tribal prints (try a long waistcoat in white!). Or dress it down with more bohemian elements (just don’t make it too bohemian or you are back at the hippie music festival).

Since a couple years it has become quite fashionable (i.e. acceptable) to combine shorts with dark tights, so tribal shorts can not only be leveraged in summer, but also in the adjacent seasons of spring and autumn if you put together tights, jackets or cardigans and boots. Speaking of onion look, but whatever…it works!

Answer: A dress that is longer in the back and shorter in the front. Also referred to as “hi-lo dress” or “mullet dress”.

We could see dip hem dresses (and skirts) coming out last year. This year, you pretty much cannot avoid them. My friend Kristin from Frankfurt also got one and I styled it for her with white accessories to create a light summer outfit. But how can we wear it in more ways than that?

Today’s post is to showcase the multifunctional use of a simple navy blazer. Many people think of it as boring and “too preppy”. In my personal opinion, however, a navy blazer is a must-have item for your wardrobe! Next to denim jeans, it is probably one of the most versatile pieces you can own.

And if you would need to choose one formal blazer for the office, it would be navy. Why?

First, because navy compliments various skin colour much better than black (which can look too harsh against pale skin). Second, because it has been the standard colour of uniform coats in history, so wearing one will create an instant formal look (you can’t do anything wrong if you stick to traditions, really…).

The beauty of a navy blazer is that is can be combined all cool colours out there and also looks good with many warm colours, too. It is pretty much your magic item to throw on, whenever you want to take a day-time outfit towards a more polished, evening-time look.
