How To Wear Ruffles
Don’t be afraid of the ruffle! It’s been around for centuries and is constantly being reinvented. Ruffles can be your friend if placed properly on your body. Taking a page from the Duchess of Cambridge’s book and styling yourself in ruffles is both an elegant and an edgy way to go. Your little one in his christening outfit is as cute as accessories come and the perfect thing to pair with her gorgeous Alexander McQueen outfit.
Below are a few ways on how to wear ruffles and make them work for you!
Ruffles give you instant elegance if they are worn correctly. Ruffled blouses can be the perfect top to complete a formal outfit, pair it with a simple pencil skirt and a nice up-do to get that refined office look.
Avoid too many ruffles in the front if you have a large bust and use them to shape your body instead. A V-neck with cascading softer ruffles can lengthen your body and you always have the option of toughening up your feminine look by adding some edgy accessories and a blazer to match.
Ruffles on the sleeves can be a good substitute as well, to be worn either at the office or for a more carefree summer look. It can be paired with jeans or shorts, whatever your fancy. Add longer simple accessories, a long necklace or earrings and some summer sandals to complete the outfit.
The Dreamy Look!
My favourite is a ruffled dress and before you flash back to memories of all those uncomfortable frilly dresses you were forced to wear as a little girl, try out a silkier material. Chiffon, to me, is the essence of dreaminess and flowy summer dresses can give you an instant romantic vintage effect.
The main thing to remember on how to wear ruffles is that you can use them to balance out your frame in places, for example, wearing ruffles on a narrow hip can give you a curvier look. Just like all the different versions of the peplum, which was great for creating shapely elegance.
Finally, ruffled shoes can be your statement piece and are a gorgeous addition to your closet that can brighten up your outfit in the lovely yellow sun.
