How To Wear Beach Cover Ups

How To Wear Beach Cover Ups When You Are Not On A Beach (Anymore)

So how can we make more use of a beach cover up? In fact, a nice cover up is the perfect base for your pre-beach brunch and post-beach cocktail outfit (which can also be worn in a city). The key is to buy a cover up in a light and breezy fabric, a neutral color and with no large prints on it. Believe me, anything else will become a huge styling challenge!

Then, you have different options: Going casual with flat sandals and a panama hat always works. Make sure to glam up with some statement jewelry (you are a city girl at last!).For a more refined look, throw on a colorful cardigan (from your color palette) and put some wedges on. And lastly, if you want to go really chic, create an instant polished appeal by wearing a blazer and classic heels, ideally tone in tone with your cover up.

Please note that the ideal length of the cardigan and the blazer depends on the length of your cover up underneath. The shorter the cover up, the longer the “outerwear”. Vice versa, if you opted for a cover up maxi dress, then it would be better to pair with a shorter cardigan or blazer.

How To Wear Nautical Print

But, just because you are landlocked, doesn’t mean you cannot pull off a nautical print in the city or even at work. The style is characterized by horizontal stripes, rope or anchor prints (usually navy, black or red) and crisp white skirts and pants. It is not only for the casually dressed, there are just a about a millions of chic and even egdy looks you can create with these ingredients.

Since all the characteristic colors are cool, this is definitely a look more suited for ladies with cool skin, hair and eye color. Combine with silver jewelry for maximum impact.

In case your colors are warm, I would advise you to stay away from the crisp white and do ivory instead. Navy, black and true red are neutrals, so you can go for that. In fact, I do think navy can look really great combined with accessories in gold, tan or warm brown (see Look 2 of your 3 Ways To Wear Nautical Print).

How To Wear Mint Jeans

Mint Jeans Style Advice

Firstly, you should pay attention to your own skin tone and to the shades of mint you pick. Not every color in the world is right for everyone.

The color mint is achieved by mixing blue, yellow and white. Depending on the ratio, a mint shade can be more blue-based or more yellow-based. When picking a shade of mint, you should match it to the color of your skin (i.e.pick a more blue-based mint, if you have a cool skin tone and a more yellow-based mint if you have a warm skin tone). Do look closely before you buy, the differences are subtle, but they are there and your outfit will show!

Secondly, when it comes to max and match, mint loves to be paired with other pastel hues like peach (for the warm skinned, see picture above) or lavender (for the cool skinned). It also looks fabulous in combination with neutrals like white, black, beige and navy (flatters all skin colours). Just keep in mind: If you have darker, bolder coloring in your skin, hair and eyes, combine it with darker shades. Only people with really soft and muted appearances can wear mint from head to toe, as a singular color.

How To Wear Pajama Pants With Style

Looking effortlessly stylish in hot weather can be tricky. Of course, there are millions of pretty summer dresses, but what if you want to wear pants? Just the thought of having your skinny jeans sticking around your legs can be a big turn-off. Thank god (or designers like Stella McCartney), we can be happy that this season pajama pants have become a trend look!

Yes, pajama pants.

Well. Not exactly the ones you wear at home, but loose fitting, printed pants in a silky (-looking) material that are breezy, lightweight and therefore ridiculously comfortable.

When wearing this trend, you want to look dressy, streamlined and chic and not like you are leaving the house in the same outfit you slept in. However, as chicness is usually the opposite of what pajama pants are, it’s critical to stick to a couple of styling tips to make this look work:

1) Materials like cotton or flannel will instantly make you look like a slob. Avoid them by all means.

2) Motives of teddy bears or other cute animals are also a no-go (I hope I don’t need to explain this one).

3) Wearing head-to-toe pajama style is very bold, and very dangerous. Better leave this to fashion pro’s like Rihanna.

4) Instead, pair with a plain top in a neutral color (best is picking up a color from the pant’s print). If you still want a little something extra, this season’s dramatic statement necklaces are the perfect thing to offset the PJ theme.

5) A higher-waist version paired with a tucked-in or waist-cinching top will elongate your silhouette.

6) Finish with a sophisticated shoe: By this, I mean wedges or heels. If you want to wear flats, opt for sleek, strappy sandals instead of ballerina flats or loafers. The idea is to counterbalance relaxed vibe of the pants.

Fabric, silhouette and styling are all things that make or break the deal when wearing pajama pants. But when done correctly, you can wear this lightweight perfection even to the office! I mean, really, how awesome it that?
